Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde recently stirred up lively online

discussions after opening up about how she and her husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde, divide household responsibilities in their nearly 30-year marriage.

Speaking in a viral interview, the actress revealed that her husband takes full charge of the physical market runs—a decision driven by safety concerns and her immense fame. Omotola explained that navigating public, open-air markets has become virtually impossible due to the overwhelming crowds her presence attracts.

She recalled an incident at Lagos’s Tejuosho Market early in her career, where fans spotted her waiting inside a tinted car, causing a massive crowd to surround the vehicle and creating a serious security hazard. Since then, her husband has taken over the grocery shopping while she handles the cooking at home.

The revelation sparked mixed reactions online:

  • Supporters commended Captain Matthew for his maturity and security-conscious mindset, pointing to the couple’s mutual flexibility as a key reason their union has thrived since 1996.
  • Critics argued that the actress was oversharing or undermining her husband, suggesting that other high-profile figures simply delegate such tasks to domestic staff rather than their spouses.

Despite the varying opinions, the couple continues to demonstrate that clear communication and non-traditional setups are central to sustaining a long-term partnership in the spotlight.
