“Why Fela isn’t my king” — Singer Tekno explains
Singer Tekno has explained why he does not regard Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti as his king, saying he did not grow up listening to his music.
Tekno said he grew up in Bauchi, where his father is Igbo and no one around him spoke Yoruba. He added that “Rara” is the only song of his that sounds like Fela’s Afrobeat, noting that Fela did not make songs like “Duro,” “Pana” or “Yawa.”
