Nigerian Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel, whose real name is Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, has confirmed that his recent break from music activities was due to the death of his mother earlier this year.
The singer expressed that despite the pain of the loss, he remains focused on supporting his family and apologizing for his delayed return to the music scene.
The singer, also known as Vado D’Great, cleared the air on X (formerly Twitter) after a fan speculated that his quiet period on the music scene was caused by being busy recording a new album.
Replying to a fan named @VicroyDominion1 on Friday, September 26, 2026, Kizz Daniel explicitly stated: “I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year”.
The “Buga” hitmaker emphasized that he needed time away from the studio to grieve and support his loved ones through the difficult period.
