Former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, has raised alarm over an alleged invasion of his hospital in Owerri by operatives of the Imo State Police and waste management officials.
According to Emenike, the incident happened on October 21, 2026, and caused panic among patients, with two hospital staff members reportedly arrested. He added that a similar incident had occurred earlier on September 25.
Taking to Instagram to react, the former African Cup of Nations winner said he decided to invest in his home state after representing Nigeria internationally and playing in Europe.
“After representing my dear country on the international stage, playing in Europe and celebrating the trophy of winning the Africa Cup of Nations, I chose to bring my experience and success home to Imo State. I invested in my community and built a hospital — a place where people could seek care, find comfort and hold on to hope,” he wrote.
He described the report of the October 21 invasion as painful, stressing that a hospital should never be a place where patients are afraid and staff feel unsafe.
“We call on the hospital community to receive the protection and support it needs. Imo State deserves investment. Its people deserve safety. And every hospital should remain a place of care and hope,” he added.
Emenike is calling for protection and support for the hospital community to ensure medical facilities remain safe for both patients and workers.
