Toluwani’s Family Breaks Silence, Uncle Shares Shocking Details of Visit to Ibadan

The uncle of late Toluwani has granted an interview detailing what happened when the family visited Ibadan after his death.

According to him, he represented the family head, with seven family members traveling from Ikirun to Ibadan. He said they arrived around 9:30am and met Toluwani’s wife, her mother, her sisters, his PA, and Tolu’s aunty.

He revealed that he was shocked by what he saw. He claimed they were watching TV and eating, with food packed in takeaway packs, showing no sign of mourning. He said he had to ask Toluwani’s wife if her husband truly died.

He further alleged that when he asked the PA to take them to the morgue to see Toluwani’s body, he initially refused. It was only after he threatened to arrest him, on the advice of other family members, that the PA agreed to take them there. He said he eventually saw the body and confirmed it.

Speaking further, the uncle recounted an incident where Toluwani’s father once called his wife to complain that even if Tolu wasn’t checking on him, she should. He claimed Toluwani quickly collected the phone and pleaded, “don’t destroy our home.” However, he said the wife denied the incident.

He also claimed that the wife’s mother lives with them in the house, and questioned if she had seen the poor living condition of Toluwani’s father. He said he told the wife that Tolu should be buried in his own house, but she refused, saying she couldn’t bear seeing his grave. When he suggested Ikirun as an alternative, she allegedly said it was too far.

According to him, the wife suggested a cemetery burial but he rejected it. He alleged that he confronted her about a house Tolu reportedly gifted her for her last birthday, and about plans to sell their current house — which he believes is why she doesn’t want him buried there.

He stressed that the family is not after Toluwani’s properties, but only wants the right thing to be done. He claimed they were warned that something bad would happen if Tolu is buried in a public cemetery.

He added that before his death, Toluwani promised to give his father N5 million for business, had already secured a shop for him, and was sending him at least N50,000 monthly, with the last amount being N80,000.
