According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday October 1, 2026, the Portugal Football Federation (FPF) has officially confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo has left the national team camp ahead of their next Nations League fixture.
The federation, however, did not disclose the reason behind the 41-year-old captain’s departure.
In a brief statement, the FPF said: “Cristiano Ronaldo has left the national team camp.
“Our preparations for the next games continue with our 24 players with maximum focus on the results.”
Ronaldo’s departure comes after he was left on the bench for the entire duration of Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway in the Nations League on Sunday.
The Al-Nassr forward was reportedly seen leaving immediately after the final whistle without acknowledging the Portugal supporters.
His decision to leave camp has subsequently generated considerable attention, particularly amid reports of tension surrounding his situation with head coach Jorge Jesus.
However, the Portuguese federation has not linked Ronaldo’s departure to any disagreement with the manager and has provided no explanation for his decision.
Ronaldo has since travelled to Madrid after indicating that he would eventually reveal the reason behind his decision.
The Portugal captain reportedly said he would share “the truth” about what motivated him to leave the national-team camp.
Portugal will now continue their Nations League preparations with the remaining 24 players in the squad as they look ahead to their upcoming fixtures.
For now, the circumstances surrounding Ronaldo’s departure remain undisclosed by the Portuguese Football Federation.
