FG Plans To Hire 4,000 Social Media Influencers To Promote Tinubu’s Projects Next Month, Says Works Minister.
Minister of Works David Umahi announced this plan in Abuja on Tuesday while receiving a project inspection report from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
This initiative is targeting young Nigerians who spend a lot of time on social media to communicate and showcase government achievements directly to the public and counter negative narratives. Umahi stated this, saying “We have to fight this social media war”.
According to the Work Minister, their main focus is to showcase Infrastructure works, including federal road projects across various states like Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Sokoto. The initiative is part of the government’s communication strategy leading up to the 2027 general elections.
Highlighting the need to shift public narratives, Umahi stated, “We have to fight this social media war. So, we have to launch 4,000 social media influencers to tell our stories”. He additionally asked the student leadership for input on how best to deploy this digital network.
